
Records Specialist I

The Records Specialist is responsible and accountable for entering, editing, validating, confirming and deleting data into several local, state and nationwide databases as required by law. This job posting specifically is looking for motivated individuals looking to begin their career in the Warrants /TLETS Message Center Unit. This position requires employees to know, understand, and interpret the laws mandated by legislature while following written policies.
The Warrants Unit ensures that law incident reports, warrants, protective orders and UCR NIBRS are entered into local, state and national data bases as required by law; researches and compiles all warrant and personal identifier data on wanted subjects; assists internal department personnel, outside agency personnel, Bonding Companies and Attorneys with questions and requests for assistance; and more. The pay listed is subject to increase after probationary period and time-in-service according to a County-wide step plan.

Responsibilities
Processing, entering, filing and/or confirming documents
Entering reviewing, or editing records in local, state and national databases
Filing documents correctly in an organized manner
Assist all agencies, attorneys, bond companies, and the public with questions
Must be able to work some overtime during times of high volume
Provide customer service via telephone, email, fax, or in-person
Special projects and other duties as assigned
Must be able to work shift-work as assigned
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen and resident of the contiguous United States for a period of time sufficient to conduct a background investigation
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
Ability to work well with the public
Must possess a current valid Texas driver's license and proof of liability insurance
Computer experience and data entry skills
Must be able to work well under pressure
Attention to detail is a must
Ability to effectively communicate verbally in person as well as on the telephone
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to multi-task
Must be able to lift up to 35lbsMust be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Willingness to cross train
No conviction above a Class B Misdemeanor or a Class B Misdemeanor within the last 10 years nor have been on or currently on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense
Testing Information Applicants must be able to take and pass the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Clerical Testing. All testing is facilitated in the MCSO Recruiting Division Office located at 1 Criminal Justice Dr., Conroe, Texas, 77301. Testing score requirements for this position are:
Typing: 35 WPM
Clerical Testing
Shift Hours The Warrants Unit is staffed 24/7 and requires shift assignments, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. This unit typically operates under 4-10 hour shifts with 3 days off.
Additional Information After receiving a conditional job offer, an applicant must pass the following before becoming an employee of Montgomery County:
Drug screen (1/2 cost = $25, responsibility of applicant)
Audio screening
