Job Summary:

The Golf Course Ranger/Starter is responsible for directing players in the proper manner of play and proper observance of the course rules and regulations. This is an at-will position. Responsibilities

Maintain professional appearance

Provides information regarding the golf course, play time and other golf-related inquiries

Provides excellent customer service to arriving guests, expediting the check‑in process

Verifies all revenues have been properly recorded through receipt inspection before starting a game

Keeps golf shop personnel informed regarding pace of play based off of the first tee

Supplies guests with scorecards, pencils and other items as needed

Advises guests of course conditions and expected pace of play

Implement and support all course policies and programs as communicated by management

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Education and Experience Requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license (if driving golf carts or range equipment)

Must have a strong work ethic

Must have friendly personality and enjoy working with the public

Organized, able to work well in fast paced environment

Must have strong customer/guest orientation

Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills

Must be dependableKnowledge about the game of golf preferred

Working Conditions

While performing the required duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with arms and hands

The employee often is required to walk, stand, talk or hear, handle, feel or operate objects

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 30lbs occasionally

The employee will occasionally be required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception

Moderate exposure to extreme cold, heat, working outdoors, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards

Noise level is moderately quiet

This position provides daily and long‑range supervision and direction in maintaining and improving conditions of the golf course at the Ridges at Village Creek golf course. Job duties include supervising the golf course maintenance staff, providing on‑site supervision of mowing, watering, and fertilizing the golf course, supervising equipment maintenance and repairs, preparing and approving work schedules, training staff, constant monitoring of turfgrass systems during the growing season, ensuring proper water, nutrient, and disease prevention levels and operation and maintenance of pumping and irrigation systems - including program scheduling, assisting in repairs and winterization. Must have knowledge of usage and application of fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, and miscellaneous chemicals such as surfactants and growth regulators. Must possess or be able to obtain pesticide license within 3 months of employment. Must be a member in good standing with the GCSAA and/or PGA of America. Applicant must be able to work a varied shift including weekends and some holidays. A driver’s record check will be performed.

Minimum Qualifications\nMinimum of three years of facility management experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role.

Preferred Qualifications\nExperience in turf management or related area, and two years in a managerial or supervisory role. Applicants with a college degree in agronomy, horticulture or related field and specialized training in turf management are preferred.
