The Dane County Treasurer's Office has a current vacancy for a full time (1.0 FTE) Account Clerk II. This position will handle entry of property taxes, property tax overpayments, and bank deposits from other county departments. Submits reports and payments to the state. Collects assessments, disburses payments, and balances the log book for the Farm Drainage Board. Reconciles dog license reports and processes supply orders for the office. Backs-up other office staff as needed. Performs related work as required. Current regular employees: If interested please apply through the internal posting for this position. Education, training and experience: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two (2) years of experience keeping and reviewing financial records, processing financial transactions and following complex fiscal policies and regulations. Special requirements: Must have a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Some positions may require the ability to lift up to thirty (30) pound banker boxes containing office files. Work related to public health emergencies may require availability twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Also refer to the "Physical and Environmental Work Requirements" section below. Leave limitations apply during key tax collection times, non-emergency leave will not be approved. Generally, this is for the month of February and July 15 through August 15. Background check statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. For bilingual positions: Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.). This will primarily consist of passing an oral language proficiency assessment from English to foreign language and foreign language to English, but may require additional language testing, such as written translation, if it is an essential function of the job. Physical and environmental work requirements: Professional office work environment. Ability to exert physical effort in moderate work including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and moving 25 pounds with/without assistance. Ability to repetitively bend, squat, kneel and stoop to floor level. Manual dexterity using fine and gross motor skills. Good visual acuity and hearing with or without corrective devices. Ability to speak and be heard by others. Prolonged computer and phone computer use. Badger Prairie Healthcare Facility: Moderately safe and comfortable conditions within a modern healthcare facility, with potential for exposures to odors, violence and noise. Potential for exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including blood borne pathogens. Knowledge of the methods of keeping fiscal accounts and records. Knowledge of or ability to learn double-entry bookkeeping systems. Knowledge of office procedures and equipment. Knowledge of business arithmetic. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing fiscal record keeping, Ability to interpret and implement complex policies and regulations. Ability to take a critical approach towards work methods. Ability to compare names and numbers accurately and rapidly. Ability to compile and prepare financial reports. Ability to plan and lead the work of others. Ability to thoroughly and quickly learn new software programs. Must be adept at Microsoft Office suite applications (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and able to work within multiple computer operating systems. Become a part of the Dane County team! Bilingual pay: Employees who work in bilingual designated positions receive an additional $2.00 per hour. Undesirable hours premium pay: Employees may receive undesirable hours pay of $2.00 for anytime worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m and for anytime on Saturday and/or Sunday. (not applicable with all employee groups). Paid parental leave: Dane County also provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth or adoption of a child. Caregiver leave: Dane County offers 80 hours of paid leave to care for an ill family member. Telecommuting: Telecommuting allows employees to work remotely for all or part of their workweek. Dane County considers telecommuting to be a viable, flexible option when both the employee and the job are suited to such an arrangement. Dane County will permit telecommuting when it benefits the productivity of the employee and their department and if determined by employee's department that telecommuting is not detrimental to either the County or the employee. Student loan forgiveness: If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. WI Retirement System: Employees hired after 7-1-11 must be expected to work a minimum of 1200 hours annually to be enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System when hired.
