Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced and motivated technical leader for the role of Director of AI Specialist Solution Architecture for our worldwide Go-to-Market (GTM) organization. You will develop industry-leading cloud-based solutions to grow the AI computing business across our comprehensive portfolio including AI services (SageMaker), Amazon Quick Suite, and AI developer tools (Kiro, AgentCore, and related technologies). Working closely with engineering teams, you will enable new capabilities for customers to develop and deploy AI workloads on AWS.
In this role, you will lead and develop a global team of AI Solutions Architects, setting the vision for market development, sales enablement, and solution architecture. You will drive customer-centric value propositions and demonstrations spanning end-to-end managed services, AI/ML frameworks (data ingestion, wrangling, training, inference, MLOps, model lifecycle management), data platform integration, generative AI applications, and enterprise AI productivity tools on AWS cloud.
You possess the business and technical background to drive engagement at the highest levels-from startups to large enterprises. You articulate the potential and challenges of AI frameworks to both engineering teams and C-Level executives, with deep familiarity across classical and state-of-the-art AI solutions, generative AI applications, enterprise productivity tools, and target AI use cases in the cloud.
As a technically deep thought leader, you will shape the customer solutions-focused skills of your team and the broader SA community. You excel at building high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and innovation, while developing future leaders through mentorship and promotion assessments. You have extensive experience working with GTM teams and work across organizations to realize the full potential of stand-alone and integrated AI solutions. You embrace learning and introducing new technologies to help colleagues and customers adopt new solutions, with thought leadership that looks beyond technology to the value it creates for customers.
You are adept at partnering with AWS services teams, field solutions architecture, sales, marketing, business development, and professional services, while representing your team to executive management. You serve as a strategic advisor to customers, industry, and company leaders, passionate about establishing the company standard for AI solution architecture and helping organizations understand best practices for operating on AWS.
Key job responsibilities
• \tSet the vision for AI Solutions Architecture across AWS's AI portfolio (SageMaker, Quick Suite, AI developer tools), connecting technology capabilities to business strategies and customer outcomes
• \tOwn strategic planning for AI GTM initiatives and serve as trusted advisor to Directors and VPs on AI technology trends, market opportunities, and competitive positioning
• \tServe as a globally recognized evangelist and thought leader for AWS AI solutions through keynote speaking, white papers, reference architectures, and AWS Blogs
• \tArchitect advanced customer solutions, demonstrate viability through proof-of-concepts, and establish company standards for AI solution architecture best practices
• \tCraft compelling audience-specific content (product videos, customer success stories, demos, presentations, how-to guides) and serve as technical liaison between customers and engineering teams
• \tLead and develop a global team of AI Solutions Architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation
• \tPerform Senior Principal SA technical promotion assessments, mentor promotion shepherds, identify future skills needs, and scout top talent for recruitment
• \tCreate operational mechanisms to address recurring escalation patterns, reduce bureaucracy, and actively lead the broader SA community
• \tCollaborate with AWS field sales, professional services, engineering, and product management teams to shape product vision, develop best practices, and drive partner go-to-market strategies
• \tLead large multi-org or global initiatives that drive significant business impact
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• \tBachelor's degree in technical discipline
• \t16+ years of technical design/implementation/consulting experience in solutions architecture or equivalent
• \t10+ years of leadership experience in a technical, customer-facing role in the AI industry
• \t7+ years of experience managing and leading technology organizations related to AI
• \t7+ years of experience managing and deploying AI products at scale
• \tDemonstrated ability to set vision and lead strategic initiatives across multiple organizations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• \tMaster's Degree or PhD in Engineering or related STEM field
• \t15+ years of pre-sales engineering, technical business development, enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, or program/product management experience
• \tExperience with enterprise AI productivity tools and platforms
• \tProven track record of thought leadership through technical articles, conference speaking, or open source contributions
• \tExtensive experience with cloud computing and related fields
• \tExceptional people-management skills; able to inspire and foster the right behaviors in others through leading by example (Player/Coach)
• \tStrong enterprise communication skills, business and financial acumen
• \tExcellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to turn detailed data analysis into useful strategic insight to drive customer adoption and make appropriate recommendations to the business
• \tExperience with and detailed knowledge of managed services market and insights related to cloud computing
• \tOutstanding verbal and written communication skills combined with executive presence
• \tDemonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations, building consensus and driving results
• \tProven ability to reduce organizational friction and create mechanisms that scale
