that partners closely with Outside Sales to support existing customer opportunities, develops assigned house accounts into larger, long-term relationships, and identifies new customer opportunities aligned with our capabilities. The Inside Sales Account Manager balances sales execution, account ownership, and customer advocacy, serving as a trusted partner to both customers and internal teams. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE OR HYBRID POSITION. Essential Functions
SALES SUPPORT AND LEAD MANAGMENT:
Support Outside Sales Representatives by sourcing materials to customer specifications, preparing quotes and managing opportunities for existing customers. Act as a reliable internal partner to ensure timely, accurate, and professional customer responses. Maintain clear communication with customers throughout the quoting and order process. Share commission for successfully won opportunities in partnership with Outside Sales. HOUSE ACCOUNT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:
Manage and grow assigned house accounts by strengthening relationships and expanding account activity. Identify opportunities to introduce additional products, services, or programs. Take ownership of customer relationships for successfully developed accounts. Earn sole commission on business generated from developed house accounts. NEW CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT:
Identify and pursue new customer opportunities within target industries. Proactively engage with prospective customers aligned with company offerings. Build trust-based relationships focused on long-term value and service excellence. Own and earn sole commission on successfully developed new customer accounts. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AND ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT:
Deliver a consistently professional, high-touch, “white-glove” customer experience. Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts. Manage the quote portion of the order lifecycle. Coordinate internally with client services, procurement, logistics, warehouse, and quality teams. Resolve customer issues with urgency, ownership, and professionalism. OPERATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and manage quotes, source products, generate pricing, and draft order documentation. Enter and maintain accurate customer and sales data in proprietary CRM systems. Coordinate shipping, documentation, and quality requirements as needed. Monitor inventory availability and delivery timelines prior to quoting. Prepare reports related to sales activity and account performance. Other duties and projects as assigned by management. Responsibilities
Teamwork : Responsible for working both proactively and productively with teammates to resolve issues for the customer rather than treat service as a solo act. The Sales Agent, Director of Client Services, and the Account Manager, together, represent the customer’s Account Team. The Account Team will be held accountable for the overall customer experience and are expected to consistently provide actionable value to differentiate Chemical Strategies over the competition. The Account team’s efforts are expected to be focused and intentional, with a common goal: increasing customer loyalty, customer retention and territory growth. Order Entry, Management and Processing : Responsible for efficient and accurate order placement, order confirmation via phone, email or EDI and timely communication regarding order changes to the customer. Order processing and billing based on aligned territories and/or responsibilities. Communication : Ability to manage internal and external requests via multiple platforms, while remaining organized and concise with communication. Identify and clarify customer needs and concerns, while effectively reporting requirements and customer expectations internally to determine a solution. Present answers / options to the customer and follow up to ensure resolution. Build and Develop Customer Relationships : Establish sustainable and collaborative relationships through open, knowledgeable and interactive communication with the customer. The development and fostering of strong customer relationships is vital to continued customer trust and loyalty. Data Management : Responsible for working with the Sales team and the customer to safeguard the integrity of the customer’s data, with the intent to create visibility across internal teams, encourage usability by all parties and reduce errors that result from bad/incorrect data. Data responsibility includes pricing records, customer requirements, contacts and pertinent data points needed to scale effectively and meet our customer’s needs. Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) OR equivalent from four-year College OR technical school. OR 2+ years of experience in Customer Service, Customer Success, or a similar discipline. OR, 5+ years of relevant professional experience, Chemical Distribution is a plus. Three to seven (3-7) years of experience in B2B account management, customer service, inside sales, or related roles. Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business software. May be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement with CSI to protect sensitive company information, as state and federal guidelines permit. Experience in specialty distribution, chemicals, manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductor, or technical industries preferred. Experience supporting Outside Sales or managing shared accounts preferred.
