Overview
John James Architecture LLC is a small design firm specializing in custom home design, located in Maplewood, NJ. With a professional team of registered architects and interior designers, the firm ensures personal attention and bespoke design for every client.
Responsibilities This is a full-time, in-office role located in Maplewood, NJ (right next to the train and terrific downtown eateries). As an Architectural Designer, you will be responsible for working with clients and the principal to design single family homes from schematic design through to CD and CA. Tasks include analyzing zoning, developing existing condition drawings, preparing schematic floorplans and elevations, coordination with the structural engineer, development of detailed CDs, evaluation of contractor bids and the execution of construction administration. You will design, draw and lead your own projects, with a significant degree of autonomy!
Qualifications
Proven skills in single family residential design and project management
Proficiency in creating accurate and detailed Construction Documents
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within a team and with clients
Advanced Proficiency with Vectorworks, Autocad or Revit
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
Proficiency with 3-D modeling software (Rhino, Vectorworks, Revit or Sketchup)
Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited architecture school
Experience designing single family homes in the United States
Ability to analyze single family zoning constraints
Proficient understanding of wood-framed construction.
Requirements
3+ years of experience after graduating architectural school
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture
Must be authorized to work in the United States
