The district includes Mountain Valley Community School (MVCS), a new state-of-the-art PreK-8 facility with spaces designed for ECE instruction as well as ECSE. About the Role RSU 10 is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and relationship-driven leader to join our school community as the District Director of Special Services. The Director will provide leadership across all schools and programs, working with administrators, staff, families, and the broader community to support every student. Responsibilities Provide clear, compassionate leadership across all schools and programs. Support a dedicated staff focused on what is best for all students every day. Partner with administrators to guide district priorities. Strengthen family and community relationships through transparent communication. Advocate for children, educators, and public education across the RSU 10 region. Qualifications Inspiring and visible leaders who value relationships and teamwork. Experienced special educators with a track record of successful leadership at the building or district level. Student-centered visionaries who believe all children can succeed with the right supports. Skilled communicators who build trust, foster collaboration, and engage authentically with staff, families, and community members. Thoughtful managers with experience in special education budgeting and developing human resources. Commitment to ensuring each student has a continuum of programs and services to reach their potential. New Maine Administrator of Special Education certification (or eligibility) is preferred. District Information RSU 10 serves 1,649 students across four schools: Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School, Hartford-Sumner Elementary School, Mountain Valley Community School, and Mountain Valley High School. Total staff: 428. District Budget: FY 25-26 Total General Appropriations $42,994,564.77. FY 25-26 Special Education Budget: $9,508,668.21 Mission and Vision: Read RSU 10’s Mission and Vision.
