The Opportunity

Keys to Literacy, a division of K12 Coalition, is seeking a Product team member to support the development of high-quality educator learning courses. This role plays a critical part in managing content-building processes, supporting learning management system authoring, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects move forward on schedule. The Product Specialist will lead the design and development of educator-friendly materials across multiple formats, including asynchronous online courses, self-paced modules, hybrid sessions, and foundational assets for live training.

The Product Specialist reports to the Vice President, Product and works closely with internal team members, subject matter experts, and a variety of partners to support course development and adjacent resource development. This role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a detail-driven environment, can manage high-volume independent work, understands adult learning theory, and has strong knowledge about effective literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading.

What You’ll Do

Content Management and Development

Collaborate with subject matter experts to shepherd their content development into Keys to Literacy courses aligned to the Science of Reading. Expand content by developing related materials, activities, guides, and decks. Establish and maintain production schedules aligned to project timelines. Set and monitor quality standards for courses and supporting resources. Maintain accurate documentation of development processes and workflows. Contribute to planning and forecasting related to course development. Contribute to securing copyright permissions, both incoming and outgoing.

Project Coordination & Deadline Management

Manage long-term planning to ensure timely delivery of high-quality course materials. Track and address feedback for development and revision of materials Maintain reporting tools, task lists, and status updates to monitor progress. Identify potential roadblocks and propose solutions to maintain project momentum.

Partnership & System Support

Conduct user feedback sessions and informal usability testing with trainers, educators, and administrators. Partner with the learning management team to integrate, support, and optimize the presentation of content, tools, and resources.

Team and Contractor Support

Provide team member & contractor support for interdependent deadlines and deliverables. Contribute to a collaborative team environment that supports growth and shared accountability.

Other Duties

Support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to help meet evolving organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or compelling experience in education technology, instructional design, or a related field. 2+ years working knowledge of the Science of Reading or evidence-based literacy instruction. Proven record of UX design principles. Experience working with learning management systems, preferably Canvas, Talent, Canva Voiceover, and Articulate products. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to collaborate effectively with and receive feedback from diverse stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment. Minimal travel possible.

Compensation Range

The compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $94,000.

As part of our commitment to maintaining fair and consistent compensation practices, new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the band minimum and midpoint, based on their qualifications, location, internal alignment, and the budgeted amount for the role.
