Houston is known as the energy capital of the world , home to over 5000 energy related companies and headquarters to several global energy corporations. The industry is being reshaped by disruptive technologies, with decarbonization, digital innovations, and autonomy/AI as important drivers.
We are looking for
a commercially oriented business developer to assist Norwegian companies with capitalizing on these opportunities in the Gulf Region – and beyond. Innovation Norway Houston is a small team, so the role will demand both strategic advisory capability and hands on DIY execution.
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Advisory and business development services to Norwegian companies, supporting development and implementation of their export and growth priorities.
Proactive engagement to identify and promote export opportunities and effectively build strong relationships with key partners in the region and in Norway.
Facilitate impactful business conferences, networking events and matchmaking platforms.
Provide market updates, collecting and leveraging data.
Executive discovery, validation of US market assumptions, hands on stakeholder engagement, and structured follow up.
Desired qualifications, competence and experience:
Consulting/sales/business development experience from the US is essential. Similar experience from Scandinavia is considered beneficial.
Experience from one or more of our strategic focus areas: maritime, technology, artificial intelligence, and energy. Competence within energy efficiency and operational optimization is regarded as an advantage.
Established commercial network in one or more of our strategic focus areas.
Experience in international expansion/Go To Market (GTM) commercialization.
Higher education, technical or commercial, within a relevant field.
Minimum eight years of relevant working experience.
Experience from early to mid-stage corporate fundraising/finance, investor networks and similar is considered beneficial.
Proficiency to effectively utilize digital project management tools.
Fluency in English is essential, Scandinavian language is considered beneficial.

Result driven, encouraging high levels of performance to deliver impact.
Strong ability to build trust with both Norwegian and US clients and key stakeholders.
Proactive self-starter, able to work and deliver results independently.
