Job Description: This role is responsible for owning end-to-end payroll operations in Workday, ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across U.S. and Canada employee populations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Run end-to-end payroll operations for approximately 2,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada

Execute daily payroll processing activities in Workday and validate payroll data before final approval

Prepare payroll files, reporting, and supporting documentation for Head of Payroll review and sign-off

Review payroll calculations, time tracking inputs, and system outputs for discrepancies

Troubleshoot payroll issues by partnering with payroll stakeholders and technical resources

Apply U.S. and Canadian payroll compliance rules within payroll processing workflows

Oversee and coordinate a team of 3 payroll contractors across remote and onsite support

Ensure payroll accuracy across weekly, biweekly, monthly, and retiree payroll cycles

Requirements: Must-Haves: Strong Workday Payroll expertise

Proven experience running payroll end-to-end, not just supporting payroll processes

Experience validating payroll accuracy and resolving discrepancies prior to leadership approval

Experience working in multi-cycle payroll environments

Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations

Experience applying payroll compliance logic within Workday

Experience reconciling timekeeping data against payroll calculations

Familiarity with ADP SmartCompliance

Familiarity with ADP Streamline for Canada payroll

Experience coordinating payroll staff or contractors

Ability to work cross-functionally with HR, timekeeping, and finance teams

Ability to step into payroll operations with minimal training

Nice-to-Haves:

Experience supporting union employee payroll Experience preparing payroll reporting for executive or leadership review Prior experience in complex North America payroll environments with multiple employee groups
