Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Global Trade Compliance Counsel to join their dynamic team. As a vital member of the compliance department, you will support the organization in navigating complex international trade regulations. Washington, DC Hybrid: 3 days a week in our DC office (T, W, and Thurs) What's the Job?

Review and negotiate trade compliance provisions in commercial agreements, including NDAs, with a focus on risk mitigation and operational clarity. Advise on procedures for screening customers, vendors, and counterparties against restricted and denied party lists. Evaluate and approve outbound payments involving higher-risk jurisdictions, ensuring controls align with sanctions considerations. Provide clear, actionable guidance on U.S., EU, and UK trade and sanctions laws and regulations. Advise on deemed export and re-export controls, including technology transfers. What's Needed?

6+ years of experience in trade compliance, export controls, and sanctions within a law firm or in-house environment. Strong knowledge of EAR, ITAR, OFAC sanctions, and relevant EU/UK regimes. Experience with screening tools, internal controls, and escalation frameworks. Exceptional drafting, communication, and stakeholder management skills. JD or equivalent legal qualification preferred; in-house counsel experience a plus. What's in it for me?
