Loft Orbital Federal is seeking a Director, Business Development focused on the U.S. Space Force to lead customer engagement, campaign strategy, and growth execution across defense space missions. Reporting to the Vice President of Growth, this role owns Loft Federal’s business development strategy and customer relationships within the U.S. Space Force and closely aligned Department of Defense organizations.
This is a senior, customer‑facing leadership role responsible for shaping long‑term campaigns, building trusted relationships with government decision makers and operators, and translating operational needs into executable capture strategies aligned with Loft Federal’s product portfolio. The Director will lead multiple concurrent campaigns and pursuits, supported by Capture Managers and technical teams, and will be accountable for pipeline quality, prioritization, and win outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings deep domain expertise in defense space missions and a strong understanding of how the U.S. Space Force plans, budgets, acquires, and fields operational capability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary customer‑facing executive for U.S. Space Force accounts
Define and execute business development and campaign strategies
Build and sustain senior‑level relationships with government and industry stakeholders
Identify, qualify, and prioritize pipeline opportunities aligned with growth objectives
Lead capture strategy development including win themes, value propositions, and teaming
Run multiple campaigns with execution support from Capture Managers and engineering teams
Guide price to win, investment prioritization, and IRAD alignment
Coordinate with Product and Engineering to align offerings with mission needs
Support proposal shaping, customer engagement, and executive reviews
Represent Loft Federal through industry engagement and thought‑leadership activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Twelve or more years of experience in business development or capture within defense space markets
Direct experience working with the U.S. Space Force and related DoD organizations
Strong understanding of defense space missions including ISR, Space Domain Awareness, battle management, and autonomy
Demonstrated success leading complex capture campaigns and winning competitive programs
Experience managing pipelines, customer portfolios, and long‑term campaigns
Proven ability to engage technical, operational, and executive stakeholders
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Existing network within the U.S. Space Force, Space Development Agency, Space Rapid Capabilities Office, and Air Force
Experience with FAR based and non‑traditional acquisition mechanisms
Product management or mission integration experience
Demonstrated thought leadership in defense space domains
Active or immediately eligible TS clearance with experience supporting SCI or SAP programs

This range is intentionally wide as we assess individuals based on their unique abilities and experience to find the best fit for our needs.
