Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) provides mission-driven leadership and oversees the organization’s programs, fundraising, strategy, partnerships, and operations. The ED will grow revenue, deepen program quality and reach, and strengthen strategic relationships with schools, the community partners, funders, and families.

This role is ideal for a collaborative leader with proven success in fundraising, program development, and community relationship management. The ED works closely with—and is accountable to—the Board of Directors while managing a lean team and a network of volunteers and mentors to deliver high-impact services.

  • This role may require occasional travel within the Lowcountry region, attendance at youth programs or events, and engagement in school or community settings.

    Time Commitment: Part-time, approximately 20–28 hours per week (flexible scheduling; some evenings/weekends required for events, school partner meetings, and community engagements).

    As the organization evolves, this role may expand in scope or hours based on funding and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Development (40%)

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual development plan
  • Cultivate donors and manage grant relationships
  • Oversee grant writing, reporting, and compliance
  • Strengthen development systems and donor stewardship

Program Building & Impact (25%)

  • Lead program design, implementation, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure measurable youth outcomes
  • Oversee program staff, volunteers, and mentors

Strategic Planning & Board Relations (15%)

  • Co-lead strategic planning initiatives
  • Provide transparent financial and programmatic reporting
  • Support Board governance and committee engagement

Community & External Relations (15%)

  • Serve as chief ambassador for the organization
  • Advance equity-centered outreach efforts
  • Lead marketing and communications strategy

Operations, Finance & Compliance (5%)

  • Manage budgeting and fiscal oversight
  • Ensure regulatory and grant complianceI
  • Maintain sound risk management practices
