Director of Community Ed
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership between the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high quality programs to enhance the quality of life for residents. The program was recently recognized as a Top Ten Community Ed program in North America by the Learning Resources Network, the world’s largest lifelong learning association. Responsibilities
Provide leadership for strategic direction, financial performance and operational management to ensure the Community Ed program furthers its mission in the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts. Oversee strategic planning, development and delivery of fee-based, non-credit, customized and community-based programs for youth, families and adults in the areas of adult education & literacy, aquatics, art/enrichment, outdoor education, school-age care and sports & fitness. Provide leadership to 300+ full-time, part-time and seasonal staff across programming, operations and marketing/communications functional areas. Manage budgeting, capital planning, revenue strategy and resource allocation for a $13M+ annual budget to ensure operational effectiveness, fiscal accountability and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate will exhibit the following
Ability to think strategically, take initiative and administer effective leadership in developing and implementing programs to deliver a quality experience for patrons. Ability to develop, oversee, and balance complex departmental budgets that are dependent upon fee-based programming for ongoing financial viability. Innovation mindset with ability to identify emerging trends and adapt programming accordingly. Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, sports & leisure, communications, business or comparable discipline required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in lifelong learning, community education, recreation, school-age care programming or similar field. Proven experience in developing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets preferred. Experience building and sustaining cross-sector partnerships with business, nonprofit and education institutions. Experience supervising large groups of employees. The position will be located at the Community Ed office on the campus of Ellisville Elementary in Ellisville, MO.
