Public Radio Summer Internships
New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is seeking two paid summer interns. One will work in our Newsroom and one will work with our Broadcast Production team. Over 10 weeks (June–August 2026), interns will be embedded in the full work process, learn best practices, attend regular meetings, and gain hands‑on experience across multiple departments. The interns will have a mentor and support from station staff from multiple departments.
News Internships – Reporting
This intern will serve as a general assignment reporter in the newsroom, receiving daily news assignments, pitching own ideas for quick‑turn and longer‑term stories, and building a network of diverse sources. The intern will learn journalistic ethics, various reporting styles, and produce news stories for audio, digital, and social media. Field reporting will be a key component, followed by close collaboration with an editor to develop fully fleshed pieces.

Reliable transportation for travel within NH (onsite position)
Broadcast Production Internship – Programming Team
The intern will work with the broadcast production team on on‑air voice tracking and music programming, write promotional scripts, and work with archival audio. Training will include basic use of NHPR’s Studio Core system and operating the SAS Rubicon console to record voice breaks and produce assigned production elements. Opportunities to collaborate on “Live from the Word Barn” and “Live from Studio D” and help develop and produce literary programming for the NHPR Books series.

Experience with sound design and basic music production tools
Ability to manage tasks independently while working efficiently in a collaborative environment
Demonstrated interest in public media and storytelling
Job Requirements
Compensation & Benefits: The internships are temporary full‑time, non‑exempt hourly positions. 40‑hour week, 10 weeks (June 1–August 7 2026). Hourly rate $17.50 and a $500 stipend for housing/transportation/relocation. Non‑benefit eligible; interns receive two paid holidays and can participate in NHPR’s 403b plan.
