This internship will begin in Summer II 2025 and continue through Fall 2025 and Winter 2026
20-25 hours per week
$15/hr
Can be counted as internship credit
Large Ongoing Projects Storyboard, film, and edit videos
that engage and educate students – from Career Ambassador tips to behind-the-scenes peeks at the Center, career advice, social media trends and more.
Capture department events and programming
through video and photography, transforming them into sustainable content resources.
Generate eye-catching, on-brand social media content
that boosts our visibility to future, current, and past students.
Fun fact: From August 2024 to April 2025, our intern helped us gain 711 new followers!

Be the social media lead for the Journey Mappers Podcast , selecting dynamic soundbites and crafting digital campaigns to promote each new episode.
Intended Outcomes
Maintain and amplify brand consistency across Career Communities, including the School of Business (SBA), School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) and the College of Arts and Sciences (NFH).
Increase student engagement across platforms – with fresh ideas and bolder strategies than ever before.
Build a robust library of Career Resource Videos for long-term student success.
Deepen the OU community’s awareness of and connection to the Career and Life Design Center’s mission and impact.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Manage and grow the Center’s social media accounts:
Instagram (@oucareers, @oubcareers, @ousecscareers)
Facebook (@oucareers)
LinkedIn (@oucareers)
X (Twitter) (@oucareers)
Create compelling written, photo and video content across all platforms.
Maintain and update the department’s social media calendar.
Stay ahead of current trends to elevate engagement and relevance.
Design and implement social media campaigns tied to our programs and events.
Collaborate with the Graphic Design Intern to develop marketing assets.
Support event marketing efforts—virtual and in-person.
Ensure consistent brand voice across Career Communities and marketing channels.
Monitor and fulfill internal marketing ticket requests.
Update and manage Handshake event listings and resource library.
Support the collection of student success stories via digital submission tickets.
Contribute to video production processes including brainstorming, storyboarding, filming and editing.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at Oakland University. Ideal candidate in their junior or senior year with a major in a communication, journalism, public relations and strategic communication, English, marketing, writing and rhetoric or creative writing
Organized
Passion around building a following on social media. Social media management experience is a plus
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Experience with creating and editing videos is preferred. Additional training can be provided
