Macdonald & Company have been exclusively retained by a well-capitalized real estate investor and developer to appoint an Associate Vice President to join its Atlanta-based residential investment platform.
This firm is actively investing in multifamily and residential development opportunities across the United States and has an expanding pipeline of projects within its portfolio. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing asset performance while also supporting the evaluation of new development investments within a lean, high-accountability team.
Role Summary
The Associate Vice President will support the asset management of the firm’s residential development portfolio while contributing to investment analysis and the evaluation of new development opportunities. This position requires an experienced real estate professional capable of independently analyzing asset performance, supporting investment underwriting, and contributing to portfolio strategy.
Responsibilities
Support implementation and monitoring of asset-level business plans across the residential development portfolio.
Review operating performance, leasing activity, and financial reporting across active projects.
Monitor performance relative to underwriting assumptions and identify operational or financial risks.
Participate in leasing, operations, and construction update calls with development partners and property managers.
Review development budgets, construction draw requests, and capital expenditures.
Analyze annual operating budgets and assist with portfolio-level forecasting and reporting.
Investment & Development Analysis
Support financial underwriting and evaluation of new development opportunities and joint venture investments.
Review investment materials and prepare financial models and analytical outputs.
Assist with due diligence processes including financial analysis, market review, and investment committee preparation.
Review joint venture agreements, financing structures, and development documentation alongside senior leadership.
Relationship & Internal Collaboration
Coordinate with development partners, brokers, lenders, consultants, and property managers.
Collaborate internally across investment, development, and finance teams to support portfolio monitoring and project execution.
Contribute to internal investment and portfolio reporting for senior leadership.
Requirements
5–10 years of experience in real estate investment, development, or asset management.
Experience working with multifamily or residential development assets preferred.
Strong financial modeling, underwriting, and analytical skills.
Solid understanding of real estate development and institutional investment structures.
Advanced Excel proficiency and strong command of Microsoft Office tools.
Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
