Position Overview The PBS Social Media team manages all General Audience platforms that represent the shows and brand. Those platforms include but are not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Threads. The team is seeking an intern to work across various areas of social media with a key focus on brand and editorial content.
The PBS Social Intern will assist in content creation and content management, monitor comments and conversations across platforms and help to facilitate engagement efforts. During the internship, the intern will work closely alongside the team on day-to-day content creation, scheduling and community engagement. At the end of the internship, the intern will walk away with a portfolio of work for a legacy brand and a stronger grasp on engagement led social strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Brainstorm campaign and social video series ideas
Create video and static social-first content that represent the brand across various platforms
Monitor conversation and trends across various platforms and determine ways that PBS can engage
Support the social team at live events
Write social copy that fosters engagement with the PBS audience
Schedule social posts
Comfortable being on camera for hosted social videos and in person events
Develop new strategies to increase brand engagement and brand love
Requirements for Success
Strong understanding of social media trends and platforms
Experience creating social content
Willingness to learn
Strong copywriting skills
Skills Intern May Gain
Strong design and video editing skills
Community engagement
Creating and interpreting social reports
Project management and content management skills
A strong design portfolio

Time Commitment: June 1, 2026 - August 21, 2026
Compensation: Undergraduate students receive $15/hour, graduate students receive $17/hour
