
Seasonal Marketing Events Supervisor

Overview
As a part of the Marketing Events team, you will get the opportunity to assist with all aspects of attendance driving Zoo events like the Grand Rapids Lantern Festival, Wildlife Exploration Days, Member Nights, Zoo Goes Boo and many more! You will get the opportunity to connect and coordinate with vendors, guests, Zoo staff, hired entertainment and community partners to help see an event from initial concept to day of facilitation. All events held at John Ball Zoo help to further our mission of the care of wildlife and wild places!
Payrate : $15.50
Essential Duties
Assist the Marketing team with the implementation of all types of Zoo events.
Uses annual event plan to execute and finalize upcoming events.
Communicates with Events Coordinator in any situation that may need clarification or resolution.
Follow event forms and itineraries from the Event Coordinator in order to successfully lead an event from open to close.
Assist with coordination of admission, experiences, community partners, vendors, volunteers and entertainment during Zoo events.
Confirms entertainment/vendors and manages communication, invoices, and payments
Maintain a high level of communication with all departments of the Zoo to provide the best visitor experience possible.
Complete administrative tasks as needed for event.
Point person for confirming week of event readiness
Attends events day of and manages the facilitation of all activities
Assist in sourcing, managing, and organizing event supplies and decorations.
Maintain outstanding customer service in all aspects of the position.
Qualifications
Ability to multi-task in a fast- paced environment.
Excellent customer service skills, comfortable and skilled in creating positive face-to-face interactions. Ability to solve problems and resolve conflict.
Customer service experience or experience with special events preferred.
Ability to work independently as well as with others.
Work Environment
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and all assigned shifts.
Position will include a combination of in office planning and shifts on site at Zoo events.
Physical Demands
Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to inclement weather, high humidity, and to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Incumbent will work in various environments both inside and outside and may occasionally be exposed to inclement weather; pollen, mold, dust, dirt and other airborne contaminants; and temperature variations.
Must be able to occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in close proximity to exotic and domestic animals.
Must be able to wear all required protective clothing and equipment.
