Truss Designer – Remote (Confidential)
Residential Wood Truss Design | Florida
A premier growing structural building component manufacturer is seeking an experienced Truss Designer to support a high-volume pipeline of Florida residential construction projects. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere while collaborating with a highly experienced design and production team.
This role is ideal for a designer who has strong experience designing single-family residential roof and floor truss systems in Florida, understands the complexities of wind loads, hurricane zones, and Florida building requirements, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
Design roof and floor truss systems for Florida single-family residential construction
Interpret architectural plans and structural requirements to produce accurate truss layouts
Ensure all designs comply with Florida Building Code (FBC) and local jurisdiction requirements
Utilize MiTek truss design software to produce truss layouts and engineering documentation
Work closely with sales teams, builders, and production staff to ensure projects move efficiently from design to manufacturing
Review designs for wind loads, uplift requirements, and structural integrity specific to Florida markets
Provide technical support to internal teams and customers when needed
Qualifications
8+ years of wood truss design experience
Strong proficiency with MiTek truss design software
Extensive experience designing single-family residential projects
Demonstrated experience working on Florida-based projects
Strong understanding of Florida Building Code, wind zones, and hurricane load requirements
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote design environment
