Community Outreach Leader

The Community Outreach Leader serves as the health system’s ambassador to the community, owning both the public-facing representation and the behind-the-scenes execution of initiatives that expand Baton Rouge General’s presence and reputation, strengthen partnerships, and improve access to care. This role drives engagement through visibility and personal connections, as well as hands-on leadership of planning, documentation, and deliverables, including events, sponsorships, education partnerships, and strategic community initiatives. Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute a system-wide community outreach strategy that aligns with marketing, business development, recruitment, and population health goals. Evaluate opportunities for community partnerships and events that advance health system priorities. Manage and allocate the annual sponsorship and outreach budget. Lead, write and organize BRG’s Community Health Needs Assessment. Establish measurable objectives and reporting systems to assess ROI and community impact. Community Engagement

Serve as the primary liaison to community leaders, civic organizations, schools, and partner institutions. Represent Baton Rouge General on boards, coalitions, community meetings, and in the press. Identify and manage health fairs, community events, and sponsorship opportunities that enhance visibility and patient engagement. Collaborate with Marketing, the Foundation, HR, and Service Line teams to ensure outreach aligns with organizational goals. Team Leadership

Supervise and develop two Community Outreach Specialists, including one dedicated to school partnerships. Foster a collaborative, mission-driven team culture that emphasizes impact, creativity, and accountability. Coordinate internal volunteer opportunities and staff participation in community events, including on-site support. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with minimum 5–7 years of experience in community relations, business development, or nonprofit outreach. Proven record of building partnerships and leading community engagement initiatives. Strong public speaking and relationship-building skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for community events. Ideal Hire

Has strong community connections, represents BRG with credibility, and is willing to personally own and execute the work behind the scenes. Someone who can move seamlessly from a board meeting or press interview to setting up a table and working a community health screening. Able to organize and manage the details of the CHNA, AND confidently discuss both the process and outcomes with local leaders and partners. Naturally relationship-driven and embedded in the community. With a small community outreach team, we need cross-trained, hands-on, and driven people who take ownership of both execution and representation and are passionate about strengthening our organization and community.
