The Opportunity:
We are seeking a full time Mortgage Loan Processor to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the documentation, verification, and communication process for mortgage loan applications. This role ensures all required information is collected, reviewed, and prepared for underwriting in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines. Serves as a key liaison between borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, and the closing team to ensure timely and accurate loan processing.
What You’ll Do
Process residential mortgage loans (Conventional, Purchase, Refinance, and Government) consistent with all company policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements.
Obtain and review required loan documentation and submit complete loan packages to underwriting for approval.
Monitor and ensure closing dates and company deadlines are met within key performance indicators (KPIs).
Communicate timely with loan officers, buyers, sellers, title companies, builders, and agents via phone, email, and text to keep all parties updated.
Actively participate in ongoing efforts to continually improve member service.
Handle escalated problems and issues requiring knowledge of residential mortgage loan processing.
Obtain and verify that all underwriting conditions have been received and cleared by the underwriter and prepare file for submission to closing team.
Obtain, validate, and track third-party services such as appraisals, title work, and verifications.
Stay updated on changes in policies and procedures, standards and regulations applicable to company and mortgage industry.
Understand and apply local, state, and federal regulations related to processing mortgage loans.
Update loan status in the system and ensure timely progression through the pipeline, to close loans within defined service level agreements.
Support new product rollouts by adapting processing workflows as needed.
What You’ll Need
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience in mortgage loan processing or related field.
Strong understanding of mortgage products, including conventional, FHA, VA, and state-supported loans.
Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS) and document management platforms.
Experience with Michigan and Florida housing programs or government-backed loan products, preferred.
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements (TRID, RESPA, HMDA), preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft 365.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Able to initiate and embrace change.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and ability to work in a team environment.
Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods.
