About the Role FlyQuest is currently seeking a Broadcast Intern to be based in its Culver City office. Primary responsibilities will include supporting the production and execution of FlyQuest's broadcast content. This role will assist in developing strategies to increase viewership, improving broadcast quality, and learning the fundamentals of multi-broadcast production. Additionally, the intern will support FlyQuest's mainstage app initiatives.
Responsibilities Broadcast
Assist in the production and execution of FlyQuest's competitive broadcasts, including pre-show setup, live production support, and post-show breakdown.
Research, propose, and help implement creative audience engagement strategies. Including interactive segments, between-break content, and caster-driven activations, aimed at converting passive viewers into active participants.
Support the development and implementation of upgraded broadcast packages, including graphics, overlays, and on-screen elements.
Learn and assist with multi-broadcast production workflows under the guidance of the EVP of Strategy.
Monitor broadcast quality and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise during live productions.
Collaborate with the Content, Social Media, and Strategy teams to ensure broadcast assets align with overall brand and marketing initiatives, and partner with leadership to brainstorm engagement innovations from fresh perspectives.
Track broadcast performance metrics and compile reports on viewership trends and audience engagement.
Assist in coordinating schedules and logistics for broadcast talent and on-air segments.
Stay current on industry trends, competitor broadcasts, and emerging technologies in esports production.
Mainstage App
Assist in supporting and maintaining FlyQuest's mainstage app, ensuring content is updated and functioning properly, with a focus on broadcast alignment and implementation.
Bridge broadcast moments with app experiences (live matches, on-air moments) and pull Mainstage analytics. Such as win rates, round data, and match trends, that can be packaged for social media content.
Supporting live-event companion workflows (polls, stats, interactive features, etc.).
Coordinate with internal teams to gather assets and information for app updates.
Help monitor user feedback and flag issues or opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program, preferably in broadcast journalism, film/TV production, communications, or a related field.
Strong passion for esports with knowledge of the competitive scene.
Basic understanding of broadcast production tools and software (OBS, vMix, or similar) is a plus.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure during live productions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proactive self-starter who can anticipate needs and bring creative ideas to the table.
Flexible availability including evenings and weekends during match days and broadcasts.
Involvement in collegiate esports broadcasting, content creation, or production is a strong preference.
Previous experience in video production, live streaming, or event broadcasting is a plus.
Familiarity with live or real-time applications (companion apps, live dashboards, interactive platforms, or event-driven products) is a strong plus.
Knowledge of the Fighting Game Community (FGC), including familiarity with community resources, fighting game titles, or competitive fighting game events is a bonus.
