JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinate purchasing and procurement activities including sourcing equipment, goods/ services, and vendors for Structural Steel Fabrication Shop. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Efficiently execute purchasing processes, procedures, and associated activities. Specifically : Completion of related purchasing activities including creating purchase orders, obtaining required approvals, facilitating supplier discrepancy resolution, handling rejected material and components management, and monitoring and maintaining inventory levels sufficient to maintain smooth production flow.
Track and monitor market conditions of commodities purchased and inform management of impact of changes.
Prepare RFQ’s for all materials and sub-contract services.
Assist with billings and counter sales.
Maintain inventory to minimum on hand while ensuring necessary materials are available when needed.
Expedite delivery of materials as required.
Perform additional duties as requested.
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE and SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: HS Diploma or Equivalent; related technical or bachelor’s degree a plus but not required.
Previous experience in steel fabrication purchasing/ procurement strongly preferred.
Familiar with a variety of structural steel fabrication processes and materials used.
Excellent computer skills; MS Office proficiency; previous Tekla PowerFab experience, preferred.
Strong project/ program management and implementation skills.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to be self-directed to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical computations at level required for job performance.
SAFETY / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must wear proper PPE while in Shop. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear in an office environment, utilizing computers/monitors and office equipment; may need to walk on Shop floor; required to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion. Accountable to all safety policies and procedures.
