Salary Range:
$28.85/hr. - $33.65/hr. The Mortgage Closing Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the mortgage closing team to ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant preparation of closing packages and related documentation. This role serves as a subject matter expert and working lead, providing guidance, training, and support to team members while partnering with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve issues, maintain workflow efficiency, and support a high level of customer service. Essential Functions
Team Leadership and Oversight
Provide day-to-day direction, support and guidance to Mortgage Closing Specialists. Monitor team workflow and assign or adjust work to ensure closing deadlines and service level expectations are met. Serve as the first point of escalation for complex or sensitive closing issues. Provide coaching, feedback, and support to promote employee development and performance. Closing Operations and Compliance
Review closing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with investor, bank, state, and federal requirements. Ensure closing files are prepared in accordance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards. Support the team in resolving documentation discrepancies, funding issues, and closing delays. Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal controls. Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with Loan Officers, Processors, Underwriters, attorneys, title companies, and other internal and external partners to facilitate efficient closings. Communicate clearly and professionally to resolve issues and ensure all parties remain informed throughout the closing process. Provide updates to management regarding team workflow, production, trends, and operational concerns. Training and Process Improvement
Assist with onboarding and ongoing training for team members related to systems, procedures, and compliance requirements. Reinforce department expectations, workflows, and service standards. Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies within the closing function. Remain current on regulatory, investor, and operational changes and communicate updates to the team as needed. Education and Experience
High School Diploma (Associate’s degree preferred) and a minimum of 3 years mortgage closing experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of mortgage closing documentation, compliance requirements, and closing processes Minimum of 1 year of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred Experience working with mortgage loan systems and closing platforms preferred Leadership and team development Customer service and relationship management Regulatory compliance and risk awareness Attention to detail and accuracy Communication and problem-solving skills Time management and organizational skills Process improvement and operational efficiency PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
