The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and maintaining world-class product documentation, including dealer installation manuals, owner's guides, service documentation, and training materials. The role bridges engineering concepts and end-user needs by producing clear, structured, and engaging technical content that supports customers and field personnel. This position will partner with cross-functional teams and leverage modern tools, including AI-assisted technologies, to accelerate content creation and maintain high standards of accuracy and usability.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the process of creating and revising technical manuals, installation guides, owner's guides, troubleshooting guides, training materials, and related deliverables by researching, writing, editing, and updating the materials.
  • Translate complex technical specs and procedures into clear, audience-appropriate language.
  • Ensure consistency in style, tone, formatting, and structural standards across product documentation.
  • Create or collaborate on visuals - renderings, diagrams, charts, tables, photographs, schematics - that improve clarity and usability.
  • Work with engineers and designers to incorporate accurate product graphics and illustrations.
  • Apply standardized templates, style guides, and publishing workflows.
  • Manage version control, review cycles, and documentation release schedules aligned to product launches.
  • Optimize documentation for multiple delivery formats (print, digital, web).
  • Engage with Engineering, Product Management, Technical Services, Quality, and Support teams to validate content.
  • Collect and incorporate feedback to continuously improve documentation quality.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to accelerate documentation quality and delivery.
  • Stay current on best practices in technical communication and documentation tooling.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience - preferably in manufacturing, industrial products, electronics, or similar sectors.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical information (engineering drawings, specifications, procedures).
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience working with quality and regulatory documentation standards.
  • Adept with basic documentation tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign/FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, Visio).
  • Experience working with AI & Advanced Tools
  • AI writing tools for drafting, summarizing, and revising technical content. (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
  • AI-enabled content imaging or diagram creation tools to produce clear visuals, flowcharts, and schematics. (e.g., Adobe Firefly, AI plugins for Visio/Figma)
  • Data Visualization tools that generate tables, graphs, and technical comparisons efficiently from structured inputs.
  • Documentation AI platform tools that integrate AI support for content reuse, indexing, and generation (e.g. MadCap Flare, Document 360, FrameMaker)

Target Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 per year. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for competitive benefits, including paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, disability benefits and 401(k).
