
Architectural Designer II

Dereaux Studio is seeking a talented Intermediate Architectural Designer to join our growing team. We’re looking for someone with a professional degree in Architecture and 4-7 years of experience, ideally with a strong background in high-end residential and hospitality work. The ideal candidate will bring well‑rounded design and documentation expertise, and be confident in building strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and technical consultants.
What We’re Looking For
Professional degree in Architecture and a minimum of 4 years of related experience
Ability to provide expert architectural input in planning, design, and coordination for small to large, complex projects
Comfortable working independently to develop advanced design concepts, and able to guide less experienced designers when needed
Experience in field observation, site surveying, and construction detailing
Skilled in document coordination, quality control, and reviewing engineering/shop drawings for compliance
Strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate teams, delegate tasks, and interface with clients and consultants
Key Responsibilities You should feel comfortable joining a project at any stage and adapting quickly. Responsibilities will include:
Working closely with senior staff across all phases of the project lifecycle, from schematic design through construction administration
Contributing to multiple luxury residential projects simultaneously, managing assigned work streams from concept through completion
Producing detailed drawing and specification packages for schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
Creating plans, elevations, and details that clearly convey design intent
Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, architects, designers, contractors, fabricators, artisans, and developers
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
4+ years of professional experience
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across all project phases
Highly collaborative and proactive approach to design and problem‑solving
Expert‑level Revit skills (minimum 3 years of Revit‑based project work) and proficiency in AutoCAD
Experience with Rhino, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp preferred; strong rendering abilities a plus
This role is based in our office and requires on‑site presence 5 days per week
