Lead the Growth of the Commercial Real Estate Industry’s Most Influential Association NAIOP is seeking a dynamic and strategic executive to serve as Vice President of Membership and Chapter Relations. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for shaping the growth, engagement and performance of one of the most respected professional networks in commercial real estate.
NAIOP represents developers, owners and investors of office, industrial, retail and mixed‑use real estate across North America. Through industry‑leading advocacy, education, research and business networking, NAIOP connects a powerful community of professionals who shape the built environment and drive economic development.
The Vice President will play a central role in advancing NAIOP’s strategic priorities by strengthening membership growth, enhancing member value and ensuring the continued success of NAIOP’s chapter network. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with industry leaders, chapter executives and volunteer leadership while helping guide the future of the organization.
The Opportunity NAIOP is looking for a proven association leader who can bring strategic vision, innovation and relationship‑building expertise to our membership and chapter relations programs.
As a member of NAIOP’s senior management team, the Vice President will:
Lead national membership recruitment, engagement and retention strategies that strengthen NAIOP’s value proposition and drive sustained growth.
Partner with chapter leaders and executives to support the success of NAIOP’s chapter network and ensure alignment with national priorities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to volunteer leaders, chapter executives and the NAIOP Board of Directors.
Champion data‑driven decision making to identify membership trends and opportunities.
Lead initiatives that expand NAIOP’s reach, including the development and launch of new chapters.
Oversee the planning and execution of the annual Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat — a flagship program that brings together leaders from across the chapter network.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
Provide vision and leadership for NAIOP’s membership and chapter relations strategy.
Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organization as a member of the senior management team.
Develop innovative approaches to strengthen recruitment, engagement and retention across the membership lifecycle.
Chapter Engagement and Development
Serve as the primary liaison between NAIOP corporate leadership and chapter executives and volunteer leaders.
Facilitate chapter strategic planning retreats and provide guidance on governance, membership growth and operational best practices.
Develop and implement strategies for launching and supporting new chapters.
Programs and Partnerships
Oversee the development and execution of the annual NAIOP Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat.
Foster strong communication and collaboration between chapters and NAIOP headquarters through visits, programs and communications.
Collaborate with NAIOP’s marketing team on membership campaigns and brand initiatives.
Data, Insights and Operations
Analyze membership trends and research to guide strategic decision‑making.
Lead the membership renewal strategy and national membership initiatives.
Oversee membership data integrity, reporting and departmental budgeting.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a high‑performing, highly collaborative membership and chapter relations team, including:

Membership Senior Manager
Membership Manager
Membership Coordinator
Membership and Chapter Relations Associate
Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be a strategic, relationship‑driven leader with a strong track record of building membership organizations and working effectively with volunteer leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation preferred.
10+ years of association management experience, particularly in membership or chapter relations.
5+ years of experience managing and developing professional staff.
Key Attributes
Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to translate strategy into action.
Exceptional relationship builder who can work effectively with volunteers, executives and staff.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Experience facilitating strategic planning initiatives is preferred.
Ability to travel approximately 10–15%.
