
Hotel Sales Manager

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, determined, experienced Hotel Sales Manager with excellent communication skills, who understands the meaning of “hunting” and going above and beyond in all areas of the hotel.
As the Hotel Sales Manager you are responsible for managing the implementation of the hotel’s sales and some marketing strategies. The HSM is accountable for guest room and meeting room/banquet revenues. The role is responsible for maximizing profitability for the hotel and ensuring delivery of outstanding quality service for all customers. The HSM will work closely with the GM, AGM and Revenue Manager to develop strategies to maximize RevPar and continually grow market share. The ideal candidate will be an organized, detail-oriented, effective communicator and promote an enthusiastic, professional work environment to elevate our customer experience.
Key Job Responsibilities
Understand fast-paced competitive landscape, local and feeder market dynamics and changing customer needs to ensure property success.
Proactive approach- Tactical and timely execution of hotel and market sales initiatives through account strategies.
Participate in bi-weekly strategic meeting with Revenue Manager
Responsible for ALL outside sales efforts. Prospect, qualify and build business relationships to gain new business opportunities that drive top-line revenues, market share and profitability to the hotel. Manage top corporate accounts.
Daily sales calls, entertainment of potential business clients, special promotions, direct mailing, outside appointments, sales blitzes and trade shows.
Analyze operational and sales reports to identify opportunities and develop strategies to gain market share, proper mix of business, increase revenues and provide greater profits.
Monitor sales activities/performance to ensure revenue goals meet or exceed established goals and accurately report variance/projections to management.
Weekly Sales report to be emailed to select members of management.
Review all group bookings selectively, monitoring rates, implementing yield management and increasing the number of preferred guests at a maximum rate.
Coordinate local advertising to promote hotel’s event space, bar, etc. Represent hotel at various meetings and events in support of community and public relations.
Responsible for responding to Stay Experience Platform Surveys as well as Guest Assistance Files. Ensure all guest complaints are taken care of accordingly and in a quick manner.
Critical Thinking skills are a must; we like to think outside of the box.
Responsible for conducting Tuesday night Managers’ social; a great way to interact with our guests.
Activity update and manage Delphi.fdc system
Job Requirements
Extensive knowledge of forecasting sales and interpreting/analyzing results to plan and conducting budgetary analysis
Experience analyzing operational and sales reports to identify opportunities and develop account strategies to gain market share, increase revenues and provide greater profits
Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and translating these into sales solutions
Proven success developing strategic business partnerships and long-term relationships, that provide leads, referrals, community awareness and direct sales
PEP, Delphi & R&I knowledge is a plus
Strong closing skills
Track record of leading and inspiring teams to meet or exceed sales goals
Extensive knowledge of sales skills, marketing skills, revenue management, recruiting, supervising, training and motivating managers
Ability to be assertive and persuasive without being aggressive
Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Minimum Qualifications
Degree in Hospitality Management preferred.
2-3 Years hotel sales management preferred
Experience with properties with large meeting space preferred
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
The ideal Hotel Sales Manager candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Hotel Sales Management or equivalent experience, and a proven track record of success. High performance standards, enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment are essential.
