Southern Lumber & Millwork is seeking a Lumber Sales Manager to lead and grow our lumber and millwork sales division serving the Charleston custom residential construction market.

This is a leadership role for someone who understands the Lowcountry building community, values long-term relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

About the Role The Lumber Sales Manager will oversee a growing team of 20+ sales professionals focused on custom residential builders and architects throughout the Charleston area. This position is responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic sales initiatives, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence across the lumber and millwork division. This role also includes training and developing support staff and outside sales representatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of 20+ lumber and millwork sales professionals

Drive sales growth in the custom residential home market

Maintain and expand relationships with local builders, contractors, and architects

Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and estimating teams to ensure seamless project execution

Monitor margins, pricing strategy, and sales performance metrics

Identify new market opportunities and emerging product trends

Support high-level customer negotiations and large custom project opportunities

Uphold Southern Lumber’s reputation for service, quality, and reliability

Qualifications

Proven experience managing and leading a sales team

Strong knowledge of lumber, exterior trim, millwork, and related building materials

Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and maintain healthy margins

Excellent communication and leadership skills

Strategic thinker with a hands-on, team-oriented approach
