Serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the Department of Public Works Environmental Division at Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Duties
Some duties are at the full performance level and closer than normal supervision is required at the lower grades, if needed.
Assess measures to be taken to improve installation environmental programs.
Inspect hazardous waste accumulation points for proper compliance to program requirements.
Provide technical guidance to management for compliance and improvement to hazardous waste guidelines.
Recommend solutions to management on emergency spill situations or failures to comply to hazardous waste regulations.
Assist first responders in hazardous waste guidance and pollution prevention.
In the event of emergency spill - may be required to report back to work.
Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift Certification.
A Hazardous Waste Certificate is to be acquired within one year of employment.
A Department of Transportation Certification is to be acquired within one year of employment.
A pre-employment physical is required.The incumbent must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds when necessary.
This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
