Overview
Skilled Right of Way Document Specialist to support Alabama Power Land Acquisition activities with a background in filling, scanning, conducting research and data entry and document preparation. Title research experience and/or ability to read and understand land descriptions and terminology related to deeds, easements, and other conveyance documents is preferred.
Responsibilities
Support for multiple acquisition projects across Alabama Power Service Territory, including administrative support needs for team members (schedule meetings, process invoices, timekeeping administration).
Assures files are kept in accordance with land procedures and ensures supporting data is being input into document management system accurately for file closeout.
Prepares pre-survey lists in support of acquisition projects.
Assists with landowner mailouts and tracks certified mail receipts.
Assembles project files in accordance with land acquisition procedures.
Processes online recordation of acquisition documents in appropriate counties.
Assists with title research at county courthouses in APC Service Territory when online option not available.
Assists with document recordation at county courthouses in APC Service Territory with online option not available.
Performs landowner verification through online title research.
Performs document research in document management system.
Performs quality control and updates in document management system.
Prepares acquisition documentation for execution by Right of Way agents.
Reviews executed documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Files and/or retrieves documentation in Alabama Power document file vault.
Skills
2-5 years of experience as a document specialist with experience in land rights related fields.
Title experience or ability to read/understand land conveyance documents.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Effective communication skills.
Detail oriented, adaptable to changing priorities, able to effectively multi-task across a geographically diverse team.
Must be able to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness; ability to work well under stress and time pressures.
Required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch; must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds, using good judgment.
Must have a valid driver license.
