Job Title: Right of Way Document SpecialistJob Description
We are seeking a dedicated Right of Way Document Specialist to support land acquisition activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in filing, scanning, conducting research, and data entry, with a focus on document preparation. This role involves supporting multiple acquisition projects and providing administrative support to team members.
Responsibilities
Support multiple acquisition projects across the service territory, including scheduling meetings, processing invoices, and timekeeping administration.
Ensure files are maintained in accordance with land procedures and input supporting data accurately into the document management system for file closeout.
Prepare pre-survey lists to support acquisition projects.
Assist with tracking certified mail receipts.
Assemble project files in accordance with land acquisition procedures.
Process online recordation of acquisition documents in appropriate counties.
Assist with title research at county courthouses when online options are not available.
Assist with document recordation at county courthouses when online options are not available.
Perform landowner verification through online title research.
Conduct document research in the document management system.
Perform quality control and updates in the document management system.
Prepare acquisition documentation for execution by Right of Way agents.
Review executed documentation for accuracy and completeness.
File and retrieve documentation in the document file vault.
Essential Skills
2-5 years of experience as a document specialist with experience in land rights related fields.
Experience in land acquisition, title research, real estate, easements, and document management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Effective communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Title research experience and/or ability to read and understand land descriptions and terminology related to deeds, easements, and other conveyance documents is preferred.
Detail-oriented, adaptable to changing priorities, and able to effectively multi-task across a geographically diverse team.
Must be able to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness; ability to work well under stress and time pressures.
Required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch; must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds, using good judgment.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Work Environment Work is based at the corporate headquarters, involving a dynamic environment that requires adaptability and collaboration with a diverse team. The role offers the opportunity to gain experience with Alabama's largest utility.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
