Purchasing Specialist

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Purchasing Specialist is a procurement professional who oversees purchasing teams, manages supplier relationships, and ensures cost efficiency and quality. They are involved in negotiation of high-level contracts, monitoring performance metrics, and directing procurement strategies for assigned categories.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execute purchase orders for raw materials and supplies based on MRP (Material Requirements Planning) output.

Work closely with production control to align supply signals, shortages, and schedule adherence.

oversees daily workflow and ensure purchasing KPIs are met.

Involved in negotiation of high-level contracts including Master Service Agreements, bulk pricing contracts, and multi-year supply agreements.

Manages the organization's RFP process and evaluates potential suppliers to ensure that cost, quality, inventory levels, and supply chain operations meet organizational needs.

Identify and implement improvements in the procurement cycle, ERP utilization, inventory management strategies.

Proactively identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans.

Analyze spending trends and collaborate with Finance to manage the department’s budget and standard cost variances.

Coordinate, help direct perform all required functions from initiation of an intent to purchase through satisfactory delivery of materials.

Maintains safe and clean work environment.

Perform all duties following all safety processes, procedures, and guidelines.

Other duties as requested by management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering or 2+ years of supply chain/manufacturing office experience.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

Advanced negotiation and contract management abilities.

Previous experience leading a team or managing large-scale projects.

Advanced ERP proficiency and advance Excel (Macros, Power Pivot, or complex data modeling).

Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Must be able to follow all safety procedures and company guidelines at all times.

Ability to foster teamwork, develop, and mentor others.

Ability to follow the work schedule, based on production and business needs.

Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

Communicates effectively and has exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to understand and follow safety directions.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, with the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
