Job Description The Director of Assessment and Outcomes leads the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of student assessment systems and programmatic outcomes measurement across the College of Veterinary Medicine at Orange Park. This position oversees examination processes, learning outcomes assessment, data analysis, and reporting structures that inform academic quality, strategic planning, and accreditation documentation.
The Director collaborates closely with faculty and leadership to compile, analyze, and synthesize assessment metrics used in accreditation reporting and institutional effectiveness initiatives. This role requires the regular exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, including evaluating student performance data, identifying trends, recommending improvements, and ensuring alignment between curricular objectives, assessment practices, and program-level outcomes.
Responsibilities
Oversee processes related to exam formation, blueprinting, administration, and post‑exam analysis
Guide faculty in best practices for exam construction, item quality, reliability, and validity
Periodically audit the examination bank to ensure alignment with learning objectives and competency expectations
Monitor exam performance trends and provide data‑informed recommendations to improve assessment quality and fairness
Support exam scheduling logistics and ensure integrity and security of examination processes
Design and manage systems to measure student learning outcomes and program‑level performance indicators across didactic and clinical education
Compile, analyze, and report assessment data to support continuous improvement initiatives
Develop dashboards, reports, and summaries that inform Academic Affairs decision‑making and strategic planning
Facilitate curricular mapping processes to ensure alignment between objectives, instruction, and assessment
Identify longitudinal trends in student progression, competency attainment, and program effectiveness
Compile and synthesize assessment metrics and documentation required for accreditation reports and regulatory submissions
Maintain organized repositories of evidence supporting compliance with accreditation standards
Collaborate with College leadership in preparing data‑driven sections of self‑studies, interim reports, and institutional reviews
Ensure that assessment processes generate reliable evidence aligned with stated outcome goals
Contribute assessment data and analysis to College strategic planning efforts
Develop measurable goals and key performance indicators related to academic quality and student success
Recommend data‑informed adjustments to improve student learning outcomes and program effectiveness
Support alignment between institutional priorities and assessment practices
Provide support and training to faculty related to assessment literacy, exam design, and outcomes measurement
Communicate policies and procedures related to assessment clearly and consistently
Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students in support of academic quality initiatives
Maintain strict confidentiality and security of exams, assessment records, and student performance data
Handle sensitive academic records in compliance with FERPA, institutional policies, and accreditation expectations
Exercise professionalism and sound judgment in communications related to academic performance and institutional data
Perform duties in support of the College’s and University’s mission and evolving needs
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education, Assessment, Higher Education Administration, or related field
Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in assessment, institutional effectiveness, or academic administration
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral or advanced degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Assessment, or related field
Experience compiling data for accreditation or regulatory reporting
Familiarity with veterinary medical education or professional program assessment
