Job Summary The Senior Graphic Designer serves as the steward of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation’s visual brand. This role ensures that every visual expression of the organization—from campaigns and storytelling initiatives to social media and external partnerships—reflects the integrity, dignity, and clarity required to carry forward the stories of Medal of Honor Recipients.

Working closely with the Marketing team and cross‑functional partners, this role translates the Museum’s mission and storytelling into a cohesive visual system that is consistent, scalable, and aligned with established brand standards. The Graphic Designer is responsible for maintaining and evolving the Foundation’s visual identity system, producing high‑quality creative assets, and serving as the final creative quality gate for marketing and communications materials. This role combines hands‑on design work with brand stewardship—ensuring that all visual communications support the Foundation’s mission to inspire America through authentic, respectful storytelling.

Duties/Responsibilities Brand Stewardship & Visual Identity

Uphold and enforce brand standards across all marketing, communications, and partnership materials.

Ensure consistent application of the Foundation’s visual identity, typography, color systems, and design principles.

Maintain and evolve the brand system to support new campaigns, programs, and national initiatives.

Provide brand guidance to internal teams, external partners, and vendors.

Review materials across departments to ensure visual consistency and adherence to brand standards.

Creative Direction & Visual Storytelling

Design marketing and communications assets that support campaigns, storytelling initiatives, and program promotion.

Develop creative concepts and visual approaches that elevate storytelling across platforms, including static design, motion graphics, and short‑form video content.

Produce or support the creation of motion graphics, animated assets, and video edits that enhance campaign storytelling and digital engagement.

Collaborate with marketing, education, partnerships, operations, and REC teams to visually represent Recipient stories, Museum experiences, and organizational initiatives.

Partner with writers, photographers, videographers, and media partners to ensure visual cohesion across campaigns and content.

Ensure all creative work reflects the Foundation’s values‑driven storytelling approach.

Design Systems & Production

Create and maintain design templates and toolkits for marketing and communications materials.

Produce design assets across digital and print channels, including campaign graphics, social media content, presentations, email marketing visuals, signage, and program materials.

Maintain organized design files and asset libraries.

Support the development of partner toolkits and shareable campaign assets.

Creative Quality Control

Conduct final design reviews of marketing assets prior to launch or publication to ensure adherence to brand standards, quality expectations, and technical specifications.

Provide constructive creative feedback to internal collaborators, agencies, and external partners.

Coordinate with vendors and creative partners to ensure all work aligns with Foundation visual standards.

Creative Collaboration & Project Management

Provide creative consultation and guidance to Foundation staff seeking design support, helping translate ideas, programs, and initiatives into effective visual communications.

Manage design project timelines, priorities, and workloads across campaigns and organizational initiatives.

Coordinate creative review and approval processes with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and readiness before publication.

Maintain clear communication with marketing leadership, partners, and vendors regarding timelines, deliverables, and creative status.

Digital Brand Presence

Maintain visual brand consistency across social media, digital campaigns, and marketing platforms.

Provide design support for digital storytelling initiatives and content series.

Ensure digital assets are optimized for platform performance while maintaining brand integrity.

Collaborate with web and technology partners to ensure the online experience reflects Foundation brand standards.

Required Skills/Abilities

Strong understanding of brand systems and visual identity management, with the ability to translate complex stories and ideas into clear, compelling visual communications.

Exceptional graphic design and visual storytelling ability across both digital and print platforms.

Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and high creative standards.

Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present ideas and both give and receive constructive creative feedback in a collaborative environment.

Technical Skills

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).

Familiarity with motion graphics and video tools such as After Effects or Premiere Pro.

Experience designing for both digital and print environments.

Familiarity with digital asset management and creative workflows.

Experience developing design templates and brand systems.

Working knowledge of presentation design tools and collaborative design platforms.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, or related field.

4‑6 years of professional graphic design experience.

Experience working within established brand systems preferred.

Experience in mission‑driven organizations, museums, nonprofits, or storytelling‑focused brands is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
