Branch Executive Director - Longwood YMCA (Project Management) Position Summary This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Executive Director, will be a cause driven leader, responsible for the general administration of the branch in accordance with the Constitution of the YMCA of Akron, Ohio, Inc. and the bylaws of the branch. This position is responsible for implementing policy decisions in conjunction with their supervisor and with the input of the Branch Advisory Board. The Director is responsible for the total operation of the branch, including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies that achieve the goals of the Akron Area YMCA and the branch. All activities are done to further the YMCA Mission: "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all."

Essential Functions

Staff Development:

Oversees the hiring, training, supervision and development of mission and cause driven staff. Hires branch staff in collaboration with the branch advisory committees where applicable. Implements the Y-USA Best Practices and Diversity and Inclusion Plan.

Board and Volunteer Development:

Implement effective board and volunteer development. Work with the Branch Advisory Board, task groups, and committees to implement the work of the YMCA.

Financial Development:

Directs the financial development activities of the branch in coordination with the Chief Development Officer. All staff and volunteers work effectively together on annual campaigns, special events and endowment efforts.

Fiscal Management:

Conduct the business of the YMCA in a sound fiscal manner. Develops, manages, and monitors the branch budget and meets or exceeds budget targets. Leads branch in the annual budget development process in coordination with the Chief Financial Officer. Institutes sound accounting procedures and financial controls.

Membership Growth:

Works with DAXKO Operations Manager, Association Marketing Director, and branch membership director to develop and direct high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies. Implements member involvement strategies in every department.

Program Development:

Oversees current and new program development and a commitment to excellence in all programs as evidenced by Ohio Department of Job and family Service (ODJFS), Step Up to Quality (SUTQ), ACA, and other metric sources as needed. A collaborative leadership style will lead to successful partnerships with community partners such as school districts, municipalities, etc.

Facility and Equipment Management:

Works with the Association Property Manager and team to provide a clean, safe and well‑maintained facility and grounds. Implement a planned maintenance program for all equipment, which includes capital needs and an equipment catalog. Works with the Association Information Technology Director on technology services.

Strategic Planning:

Directs the branch's strategic planning efforts which include multiyear plans as well as annual goals in support of the Association Plan. All plans have measurable outcomes and progress will be shared with the Branch Board at least annually.

Risk Management:

Insure the safety of members and staff. Implement Workers Compensation Procedures and insurance provider risk management audits and best practices.

Marketing and Communications:

Branch spokesperson. Provide leadership in crisis situations in concert with the communications plan of the association. Coordinates branch efforts with the Association Marketing and Communications Director to assure branch is compliant with YUSA brand standards.

Character Development:

Provides leadership/support of the association Christian emphasis efforts in Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith.

Record Keeping:

Maintains and files all branch and Association reports and records including: Member and Staff Incident/Accident, staff corrective counseling, member code of conduct, child abuse, payroll, and business office forms. Coordinates with Association Services Office on all contractual relationships.

Networking:

Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.

Leadership:

Serves as a member of LEAD committee and may be assigned to give leadership to one or more association Area of Focus committee.

Personal Development:

Use the leadership Competency Model as a guide to professional development. Maintain a personal development plan to focus on areas for improvement and leverage strengths.

Engages staff, volunteers and members in fundraising activities and strategies. Organizes philanthropic activity and strategies to successfully raise funds. Reports the sources, uses and management of donated funds to constituents in order to preserve and enhance confidence in the organization.

Essential Functions | Abuse Prevention

Upholding the YMCAs commitment to the safety and well‑being of youth in our programs is a core responsibility of all staff regardless of position.

Attend required abuse risk management training.

Screen employees and volunteers for abuse risk according to policies and procedures.

Train, supervise, and require adherence of employees and volunteers to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.

Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback about boundaries with consumers.

Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations.

Respond quickly and seriously to all reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.

Communicate the YMCAs commitment to abuse prevention.

Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Prefer Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent experience

Able to meet ODJFS licensing standards requirements if needed

Five or more years of experience in youth work, recreation, social services or physical education plus management experience, preferably in a YMCA

Experience in managing a not-for-profit organization's staff, volunteers, facility and budget

Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations

Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations

Have and maintain YMCA Multi-Team Leader or attained within 2 years
