
Senior Duck Creek Business Analyst

The Senior Duck Creek Business Analyst will represent the business and IT organization in leading end-to-end delivery of large-scale transformation initiatives leveraging Duck Creek Technologies (Policy, Producer, Clarity, Reinsurance, DMS and Underwriter Workbench). This role acts as the strategic bridge between business stakeholders, system integrators, product vendors, and internal technology teams to ensure successful program execution aligned with enterprise objectives.
This role expects to be deeply involved in requirements discovery, documentation, solution validation, and business decision-making including
strategic leadership capability and tactical hands-on BA execution
to drive program success.
The individual will drive requirements strategy, operating model alignment, solution validation, governance, and value realization across multi-year program road map.
This role will be based out of our regional office in Richardson, TX, (could also be worked from our office in Sarasota, FL), with the opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities:
Mandatory Hands-On BA Experience Requirement
The candidate must have strong, recent hands‑on business analysis experience and should be comfortable personally performing:
Writing detailed Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) for Duck Creek PL101 and other DC requirement documents.
Creating and refining user stories with acceptance criteria, conducting requirement workshops independently.
Performing gap analysis against Duck Creek baseline functionality, creating process flows (current & future state).
Maintaining traceability matrices, leading UAT sessions and defect triage.
Reviewing configuration impacts at a functional level, validating rating logic and underwriting rules.
This role is expected to personally own critical requirements, especially for complex underwriting, rating, integration, and regulatory scenarios. It is not a role limited to coordination or delegation.
Lead business analysis workstream for large‑scale Duck Creek implementations or upgrades.
Drive requirements roadmap across releases and phases.
Partner with Program Director, Product Owners, and Architecture teams to ensure alignment.
Balance standard Duck Creek configuration vs customization strategy.
Strong working knowledge of:
Duck Creek Policy, Producer, Clarity, Reinsurance, Underwriter workbench and DMS.
Product configuration, rating engine concepts, workflow/task rules, manuscripts/forms, API integration touchpoints, ACORD/XML‑based data exchange.
Serve as primary liaison between:
Business SMEs (Underwriting, Product, Operations).
System Integrator (SI).
Duck Creek Product team.
Challenge and validate SI design proposals from a client value perspective.
Escalate risks impacting scope, budget, or timeline.
Requirements & Governance
User stories & acceptance criteria.
Traceability matrices.
Regulatory & compliance mapping.
Ensure requirements reflect state filing, compliance, and actuarial needs.
Solution Oversight:
Review functional design documents and configuration strategy.
Validate rating logic, product configuration, workflow rules, and integrations.
Oversee integration touchpoints (e.g., document management, payment gateways, third‑party data providers).
Ensure ACORD/XML alignment where applicable.
Testing & Readiness
Lead UAT strategy and business validation.
Ensure defect triage prioritization aligns with business risk.
Support cutover planning and production readiness activities.
Drive adoption and business readiness planning.

The salary range for this position is $83,896-$129,201 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications Experience Required * Bachelor’s degree; Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
* Five years of experience with the Duck Creek platform as a Business Analyst.
* Ten or more years in P&C insurance and five or more years working specifically on Duck Creek implementations.
* Domain Knowledge : Commercial & Specialty P&C lines.
* Platform Knowledge : Policy, Producer, Clarity, Reinsurance, DMS and Underwriter Workbench.
* Experience leading multi‑vendor, multi‑workstream programs.
* Risk identification and mitigation planning.
* Strong decision‑making and trade‑off analysis capability.
* Facilitation of large requirement workshops.
* Conflict resolution between business and SI.
* Clear articulation of solution impacts.
* Strong understanding of: Agile delivery model, Release Management, Budget and Scope impact awareness and Change Management discipline.
* Solid knowledge of business analysis processes, work products and artifacts.
* Solid knowledge of elicitation methods, analyzing, validating, and managing requirements.
* Ability to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements.
* Solid understanding of business complexity, project interdependencies, and system integrations.
* Solid working knowledge of one or more operating systems, databases, & programming languages used by FCCI.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgment and decision‑making.
