
Analyst / Senior Analyst, Portfolio Reporting

Pennybacker is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and collaborative individual to join our Portfolio Reporting team as an Analyst or Senior Analyst in our Austin, TX office. This role plays a critical part in supporting firmwide reporting and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of performance data delivered to investors while working closely with senior leaders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of real estate investments, excellent analytical skills and a passion for solving complex problems through process improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities Internal and External Reporting
Compile and analyze portfolio performance metrics across funds and asset types for quarterly investor reporting
Investigate unexpected performance fluctuations through review of pro forma and base case models as well as other data sources
Ensure completeness and accuracy of portfolio data used in institutional reporting
Support the Capital Formation team in preparing portfolio-level data for time-sensitive current and prospective investor requests
Asset Valuations
Support asset-level valuations by compiling and delivering accounting and financial data packages to external appraisers, coordinating with internal teams and ensuring timely completion
Maintain private credit income schedules to calculate interest accruals and reconcile balances to servicer statements
Build and maintain asset-level waterfall models for new investments in accordance with Limited Partnership and LLC agreements
Prepare asset-level valuation binders that integrate third-party appraisals and financial data, applying LPA waterfall structures to determine asset value to the fund and support review by senior management
Collaborate with the data team to enhance the capabilities of Pennybacker Alpha, the firm’s proprietary analytics platform
Assist in developing tools to support performance analysis and ad hoc reporting needs
Maintain and validate asset, transaction and debt data within the firm’s proprietary systems
Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, data integrity and reporting accuracy
Additional Responsibilities
Maintain and administer the firm’s loan database, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and the timely onboarding of new loan executions, modifications, extensions and derivative instruments
Coordinate with loan servicers to monitor interest payments on credit investments
Partner with the Finance and Accounting teams on audit deliverables and ad hoc requests as required
Cross-train on key Portfolio Accountant responsibilities to provide support and coverage as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in real estate investment management, private equity, investment banking or a similar analytical role
Technical: Highly proficient in Excel

Experience with codebase structure and AI-assisted development tools to support technical workflows and cross-functional automation projects
