Job Description The Civil Designer (Design Associate) performs complex drafting assignments requiring standardized techniques. The design associate works independently and may direct less experienced staff. The role merges multidisciplinary design across mixed‑use, commercial, residential, municipal, industrial, sports, school and other site development projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Perform detailed design work, including drafting, layout preparation, specification review and design calculations.
Conduct research on design concepts and develop enhancements to project design.
Execute complex computer‑aided design assignments, ensuring alignment with project objectives and quality standards.
Review drawings, prepare cost estimates and attend client meetings.
Maintain project documentation: drawings, specifications and correspondence.
Assist in preparing environmental impacts or other project studies.
Supervise, coordinate and review work of less experienced staff.
Work in various terrains, weather conditions and construction sites.
Qualifications
Strong communication skills.
Team collaboration and contribution.
Associate’s degree in drafting or related field preferred.
8+ years of drafting and design experience.
Proficiency in Civil 3D software.
Experience in grading, surface creation, analysis, utility design.
