Role PCB Layout Engineer/Sr. Engineer
About the role This role is responsible for designing multilayer, controlled‑impedance printed circuit boards for advanced components supporting high‑bandwidth data links. The PCB Layout Engineer will use state‑of‑the‑art layout tools, such as Mentor/Siemens PADS, to develop designs that meet stringent signal integrity and performance requirements. The position requires close collaboration with hardware design and manufacturing engineers to define and implement robust PCB routing solutions.
Job description & Responsibilities
Create PCB layouts using EDA tools such as Siemens PADS
Perform component placement and PCB routing, including high‑speed differential pairs and controlled‑impedance signal routing
Create, define, and implement multi‑layer PCB stack‑ups
Create and maintain PCB component footprints based on manufacturer datasheets
Perform power integrity analysis on assigned boards using PI analysis tools such as HyperLynx Power Integrity
Develop PCB mechanical outlines and define component and mechanical keep‑out areas
Collaborate closely with PCB fabrication vendors to ensure finished product meets all requirements
Generate and complete all engineering documentation required for PCB fabrication, including ECOs, Gerber databases, and fabrication drawings
Job Qualifications
BS in Electronics preferred and 3+ years of experience in the PCB design field
Proficiency in the use of PADS for printed circuit board layout, schematic capture, and library management
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and adjust quickly to changing priorities
Working knowledge of PCB materials and manufacturing techniques
Familiarity with IPC standards for PCB design and manufacture
Highly regarded:
Experience with AutoCAD Inventor
Experience with High-Density Interconnect Design
Experienced in building complex impedance-controlled stack-ups with blind and buried vias
Experience with Power Supply Circuit Designs & Analog Circuits
Experienced in Mentor Hyperlynx for Power Integrity tools
Must be detail oriented and have a proven ability to organize, analyze, set priorities, and multi task in a fast paced environment
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well as part of a team, to take ownership and to motivate self and others
The Salary Range for this position is $70,000 – $136,000 annually. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position is eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM’s discretion, subject to individual and company performance.
