LACF’s mission is to build enduring philanthropy to empower our community’s nonprofit organizations. The Foundation envisions a thriving Los Alamos community where philanthropy makes a lasting impact. LACF works with community members to create endowments that benefit local nonprofit organizations and causes. The Foundation invests the endowment principal, ensures prudent fund management, and directs endowment earnings to nonprofits in the community, both to designated beneficiaries and through competitive grant cycles.

In 2025, LACF granted over $163,000 to local nonprofit organizations. LACF hosts the Los Alamos Executive Director Roundtable group, conducts nonprofit training programs for regional 501c3 organizations, and holds community philanthropy programs for donors and philanthropists. The organization also hosts and manages a web portal for community volunteering, an annual community-wide fundraising campaign, and website for Giving Tuesday. Role Description

The Executive Director reports to the LACF Board President and works closely with the Board of Directors. Currently, the Executive Director supervises the Anchorum Fellow and a part-time bookkeeper. This position is responsible for the overall operations of LACF. Priorities include:

  • Working with the Board to develop and execute an ongoing strategic direction for LACF that increases its impact in Los Alamos through sustainable operations.
  • Serving as the outward face of LACF in working with community partners, nonprofit organizations, donors, foundations, corporations and other constituents.
  • Conducting grantmaking cycles, and ensuring impactful and effective grantmaking.
  • Increasing LACF’s assets under management including growing the Foundation’s endowments and raising operating funds each year.
  • Inspiring and increasing donor support for the organization by building and maintaining positive relationships and demonstrating the Foundation’s success and impact.
  • Ensuring prudent fund management through maintaining robust internal controls and by working with the Finance and Investment Committee and Investment Manager.
  • Increasing LACF’s organizational visibility and outreach to various constituencies in the community through marketing and public relations.
  • Developing and administering community initiatives and programs that fulfill the mission of the organization and the intentions of donors and grantors.
  • Honing programs to ensure that they continue to meet ongoing needs of local nonprofit organizations.
  • Applying for grants and pursuing asset-building opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining policies and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Upholding the highest standards of integrity and community responsibility in both professional and personal conduct.
