Akkodis is hiring: Technical Writer in San Diego

Akkodis is seeking a Technical Writer for a 12 Month Contract role with a client located in Kearny Mesa/San Diego, CA (Onsite).

Pay Range: $35- $45/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Note: We are open to candidates who are recent graduates or have 1–2 years of experience in CAD. A background in aerospace, defense, airframe, or related industries would be a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Write/Create sales order specific Operation and Maintenance Instruction Manuals.
• Manuals will include Systems Operator Guide Volume, and a Maintenance Instructions Volume, for both New Production and Retrofit customers.
• These volumes will be produced using established database material and by creating new materials synthesized from multiple information sources.
• Will also be responsible for the development, and maintenance of database that supports these volumes, and will make sure database materials comply with all applicable standards.

Job Requirements:

• Experience with: SGML, Arbor text, or similar publishing software, database management software, and the documentation publishing industry.
• Ability to interface with Engineers, and shop floor personnel.
• Ability to read schematics, electrical drawings and bills of material.
• Ability to synthesize from multiple information sources, clear, concise instructions and explanations using Simplified Technical English.
• Knowledge of Industrial Turbine Machinery, including control, electrical and hydro-mechanical systems.
• The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision. PC Windows skills, and with familiarity with programs such as Azure DevOps (AzDO), PRO-E, Adobe Acrobat, Windchill and the Microsoft suite of office software are positives.
• A Communications degree is preferred, but not necessary.
