Overview The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is seeking a Multimedia Specialist I for the Communications Department.
The Multimedia Specialist I performs multimedia operation and production work involving the design, preparation, and production of multimedia content using photographic, audio, and video equipment. Performs complex (journey-level) multimedia operation and production work. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may routinely assist others in performing work of greater complexity.

The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources.
What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be Captures and produces professional-quality audio and video products including broadcast PSAs, outreach features, and internal communications. Includes creation of video projects in support of division initiatives. Includes video photography, editing, encoding, and archiving. Includes production of web and social media content as well as live streaming events.
Edits HD and 4K video and produces digital content, including motion graphics, Chroma-key compositing, title screens, lower-third name keys and closing credits using Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.
Assist media production with agency public events (VLB board meetings) and attends VLB events throughout the state (Voices of Veterans interviews, Resource Fairs, etc.) to document and publicize.
Assists in posting to VLB Social Media pages and execution of marketing plans to reach audiences through targeted channels.
Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in communications, radio television Film, marketing, fine art, or a related field.
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in video and photography.
Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
A demonstration of editing skills will be required.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with the Military and Veterans.
Frequent travel required to support on site production needs.
Candidates must be willing to travel throughout the state of Texas as required.
Typical travel includes: Up to 50% travel, depending on project load or production schedules. Overnight or multi-day trips, flexibility for short notice travel when project timelines shift.
Ability to transport or oversee the transport of equipment as needed.
Travel is fully reimbursed in accordance with agency policy.
Physical Requirements This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
