Job Overview The GLO is seeking a Multimedia Specialist I to perform multimedia operation and production work involving the design, preparation, and production of multimedia content using photographic, audio, and video equipment. The role performs complex (journey-level) multimedia operation and production work, works under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment, and may assist others in higher complexity work.

Our Mission The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency preserves history, maximizes state revenue through innovative administration, and steward state lands and natural resources.

Responsibilities

Capture and produce professional-quality audio/video products including broadcast PSAs, outreach features, and internal communications.

Create video projects supporting division initiatives: photography, editing, encoding, archiving.

Produce web and social media content and live‑stream events.

Edit HD/4K video and produce digital content with motion graphics, chroma‑key compositing, title screens, lower‑third keys, and closing credits using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop.

Assist media production with agency public events (VLB board meetings) and attend VLB events across Texas to document and publicize.

Post to VLB Social Media pages and execute marketing plans to reach target audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in communications, radio‑television, film, marketing, fine art, or a related field.

1–3 years of video and photography experience.

Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Demonstrated editing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with the Military and Veterans.

Frequent travel to support on‑site production needs.

Willingness to travel statewide up to 50% of time, including overnight or multi‑day trips and short‑notice travel.

Ability to transport or oversee transport of equipment as needed.

Travel reimbursed per agency policy.

Physical Requirements This position requires primarily sedentary office work but also routine movement to carry records and documents up to 20 pounds.
