ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develop maximum potential sales volume and profitability from municipal markets within defined regional territory.
Participate in short and long‑term strategic market and sales planning.
Accountability for increasing WP market share and ensuring sales plans for territory are aligned and accomplished in accordance with company mission and goals.
Leverage strategy assessments, planning, and cross‑functional interaction to achieve a high degree of internal and external client satisfaction.
Drive acquisition and retention of governmental contracts by maintaining critical relationships with elected officials, appointed staff, and other decision‑makers.
Maintain close and active relationships with elected and key officials; attend commission/council meetings frequently.
Seek opportunities to increase market share, revenue, and profitability by securing new contracts and additional services.
Assist clients and act in a consultative “industry expert” capacity.
Develop bid and RFP submittal packages that meet all specification requirements and maintain a professional quality presentation.
Interface with WP executives, managers, associates, and customers in targeting opportunities and aggressively pursuing viable leads.
Partner with key stakeholders to close significant contracts through aggressive negotiation, competitive pricing, and proactive adherence to defined sales strategy.
Work with finance to audit municipal billing records, franchise fees, and house counts to ensure pricing is correct and billed in accordance with contracts.
Remedy complaints expressed by municipal staff and key officials.
Participate in community events and activities to promote WP’s differentiable difference.
Keep management apprised of political activities and elections that may impact WP, Region, or Division.
Monitor council/commission agendas for solid waste issues for relevant cities and counties.
Prepare and submit monthly/progress reports and CRM data as required by management.
Identify coordination opportunities with SVP Marketing for press coverage, collateral, advertising, and sponsorship recommendations.
Research and stay current regarding competitor services.
Acquire and monitor competitor municipal contracts and their status.
Use standard format or sales automation tool to maintain status of sales activities.

Properly licensed with ability to drive a motor vehicle extensively within a defined sales area/territory.
