Senior Tax Manager - State Income Tax

The Senior Tax Manager – State Income Tax is responsible for managing U.S. state and local income/franchise tax compliance, ASC 740 reporting, audits, and providing technical guidance to internal stakeholders. This role ensures compliance with state tax requirements and also supports planning initiatives.
Job Duties
Manage and review outsourced state & local income/franchise tax return preparation and related compliance activities.
Helpfully support outsourced state tax provision and apportionment calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, and forecasting under ASC 740.
Directly facilitate extensions, estimated payments, journal entries, reconciliations and forecasting related to compliance and provision activities.
Lead state and local tax audits and coordinate responses to tax authorities.
Conduct technical research and support planning initiatives, incentives, and risk mitigation.
Monitor legislative changes and assess impacts on the company.
Support SOX compliance and process improvements related to state tax.
Provide leadership, coaching, and development to SALT team members.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field.
10+ years of state and local income/franchise tax experience.
Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740 and multistate tax concepts.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Preferred
CPA, MBA, or Master’s in Taxation.
Experience with OneSource, CCH, Checkpoint, and SAP.
Ability to work independently under broad direction.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Proven ability to manage complex multi-jurisdictional responsibilities.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
