Job Description
The Finance Intern, Real Estate position is a year-round position, responsible for supporting the Sherwin Business Services (SBS) Finance Real Estate Accounting and Administration departments. This position will be onsite at our Global Headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.
Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.
Responsibilities
Assist in reviewing, organizing, and updating lease agreements information, landlord contact information and related real estate documentation within real estate systems.
Research, verify and update landlord contact information, and property data as needed to support accounting and real estate administration functions.
Process and maintain digital records for lease related documents and correspondence to support audit readiness and compliance requirements.
Communicate with field personnel and external landlord contacts to gather required documentation and resolve questions regarding lease charges, reimbursements, and property details.
Reconcile landlord invoices for lease expenses against lease terms to ensure accuracy prior to payment processing.
Assist with coordination, and processing of landlord reimbursements for CAM (Common Area Maintenance), property taxes, utilities and insurance.
Assist with documentation of standard operating procedures in Real Estate Accounting.
Support the preparation and analysis of monthly lease-related transactions and variance explanations.
Participate in special projects such as process improvements, portfolio data clean‑up, or system enhancements within Real Estate Accounting.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Finance, Real Estate, and Legal to support end‑to‑end lease management activities.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Candidates must be working towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business‑related field from an accredited institution
Ability to work at least one (1) year, part time (approx. 22 hours per week) during school year and over school breaks
Strong written and verbal skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
Ability to handle high volume tasks, maintain accuracy, and adapt to dynamic business needs.
Ability to work as a team player in a large group setting.
Flexibility to deal with changing duties and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) experience
Adapt easily to technological advancements in a fast‑paced environment
Previous professional office experience
Previous real estate industry experience with an understanding of commercial lease structures and contract language
