
Sales Team Manager

A well-established distributor of precision components and related industrial supplies is expanding its Frederick, MD headquarters and seeks a hands-on Sales Team Manager to elevate inside sales performance and customer experience. You will coach a talented five-person team, personally jump in on quoting, order entry, and complex customer troubleshooting, and partner with senior leadership on new tools and process improvements. If you excel at blending strategic leadership with day-to-day selling activity, this role offers the autonomy, resources, and visibility to make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary escalation point for pricing, product, and ERP questions—modeling best practices in speed and accuracy.
Actively support quoting, order entry, and order-status inquiries, ensuring customers receive timely, solution-oriented responses.
Troubleshoot inventory, lead‑time, and fulfillment challenges, coordinating with purchasing, warehouse, and quality teams as needed.
Coach, mentor, and performance‑manage inside sales representatives; co‑sell on strategic accounts to reinforce skills.
Build dashboards and exception reports (revenue, margin, activity) that expose roadblocks and highlight new growth opportunities.
Lead weekly sales huddles focused on wins, pipeline health, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Grow wallet share within existing accounts by uncovering cross‑sell/upsell opportunities and proposing value‑added solutions.
Collaborate with field sales and marketing on campaigns targeting adjacent industrial distribution and manufacturing segments.
Maintain personal key‑account portfolio, achieving or exceeding individual and team KPIs for bookings, margin, and on‑time delivery.
Qualifications
7+ years of B2B inside sales or customer‑facing account management, including 3+ years in a team‑lead or supervisor capacity.
Background in fasteners, electronic hardware, general industrial distribution, or light manufacturing preferred.
Proficiency with a modern distribution ERP/CRM (Prophet 21, NetSuite, or equivalent) and data‑driven sales reporting.
Demonstrated success meeting aggressive revenue and service targets in a high‑volume environment.
Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Industrial Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict‑resolution skills; able to motivate diverse personalities toward common goals.
