Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the shipping and receiving department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely processing of all inbound and outbound shipments.
Train, mentor, and supervise shipping and receiving personnel, assigning tasks and monitoring performance to meet departmental goals.
Verify incoming inventory against purchase orders and packing slips, identifying and resolving discrepancies or damages.
Coordinate with production, inventory control, and transportation departments to schedule shipments and manage dock appointments.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of shipping documentation, including bills of lading, manifests, and customs forms.
Maintain inventory accuracy by overseeing proper receiving, put-away, and storage procedures within the warehouse.
Implement and enforce safety regulations and procedures within the shipping and receiving area to ensure a secure working environment.
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move goods.
Recommended Qualifications
Proven experience in a shipping and receiving environment, preferably in manufacturing.
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a warehouse or logistics setting.
Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and related software.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to train and mentor team members on shipping and receiving procedures.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
Forklift certification and experience operating various types of forklifts
Basic understanding of inventory management software or ERP systems
Familiarity with hazardous material handling and shipping regulations
